360° Surveying was contracted to provide multiple surveying services to assist in the detail design and construction of the projects structural components. The project was part of a $66 million complete redevelopment of the theatre, whilst maintaining and restoring the original heritage façade, as well as a new glass façade west wing, sweeping staircases, and a new 3-level auditorium.

As part of the project our team undertook the initial feature survey to enable the completion of the structural steel detail design. This involved locating features throughout the building, including the roof cavity of the existing theatre. In addition, a 3D laser scan of the heritage listed façade was performed to assist with the detail design at the front of the building. During the construction phase we provided set-out and as-built services for the structural steel and pre-cast concrete panel erection.

This project hosted a number of challenges due to the requirements of keeping the existing heritage façade and eastern wall, making for a very tight site with a central tower crane.
